Mr. Gajanan Gajmal (Head of MJPJAY)

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) is a health insurance scheme launched by the government of Maharashtra, India, in 2012. The scheme aims to provide free and cashless medical treatment to families living below the poverty line (BPL) and those with an annual income of less than Rs. 1 lakh.

Under the MJPJAY scheme, eligible families can access medical treatment and hospitalization at empaneled hospitals across Maharashtra, including private hospitals. The scheme covers the cost of medical treatment, surgery, and hospitalization for up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per family per year.

The scheme covers over 1,000 medical procedures, including cancer treatment, cardiac surgeries, orthopedic surgeries, and organ transplant surgeries. It also covers pre-existing medical conditions and provides transport allowances for medical emergencies.

To avail of the benefits under the MJPJAY scheme, eligible families can apply for a MJPJAY health card. The card enables them to access cashless treatment at empaneled hospitals across the state.

The MJPJAY scheme has been successful in providing quality healthcare services to the economically vulnerable sections of society in Maharashtra. It has improved access to healthcare services and has reduced the financial burden of medical treatment for the underprivileged.
